  1. Well that was a hoot. Nice place, they liked us, lots of dancing, kept the crowd until midnight. I used the stracaster for 1 & 2, Esquire for the other two sets. All in all, not bad. Setlist: And a couple great action shots of my rig! Good night Mays Landing! rct
  2. Hey you made it! Good deal. These guys will help you out for sure. Good luck with it! rct
  3. Well that was a good one! Ok, so I put an acoustic patch on the damn GT-100 and warbled my way through Melissa because, well, I had to. But a great night all around. Drummer on fire both drummering and singing. Great night for dynamics, not a huge crowd at this joint, so we had to keep it down, and we did. Well. Good night, the reason we do this. Lost about 8 pounds, it was hot. The usual photographic mastery: rct
  4. Great night. One of them nights that is the reason we do this. Great crowd, three guys sweating their brains out which didn't take long. I coulda kept playin. No voice left, but I could have played til dawn! I know how much you look forward to my dazzling photographic abilities, so here you go: rct
  5. Yeesh. It was at least 120 degrees in there tonight. Great crowd when we started and we kept them. Rough start, couple sound troubles but we soldiered through. All in all, a great night out with the guitars and the fellas. rct

Thanks for the insight folks. I'd be bashing at it out for a few songs a set. I regularly rely on my Gibsons, always have, so I figure a Gibson acoustic will have to hold up just as well. I'm going to be out trading in a few months, interestingly enough, an SG I don't get along with anymore, so this might be something for me to have a look at. rct

Me too on the traditional thing. I dislike cutaways. But a neck I can get along with and decent wood like walnut would make me think about it as a gigger if it sounds good. rct

Anybody seen one in the wild? Tried it, walked past it, whatever? Wondering what all you acoustic players think of any you've come across. Thanks. rct
  9. Well, just got in from long night of rehearsing and business. Agent guy was there and local promoter guy was there. The "season" kinda starts next week and they just filled in the rest of the summer. Couple outdoor covered flatbed things, and they picked up a few more bar nights. It was a very tiring, good night. rct
  10. He is. Me and Mrs could tell you some stories over some fine grape juice of our 90's days hangin around them guys. Pat is the hardest working man in show business! rct
  11. Californication, and trying to put something decent in the solo. Last night was better than we've been doing it, so it's getting there. I'd need a wheelbarrow full of drugs to play as bad as the recorded solo. rct
  12. You are not wrong. If anyone speaks "outperforms the market" and other groups of words like that, run far, run fast. They are full of crap. rct
  13. Blue, purple, gold, champagne, green, red. They were everywhere. I mean everywhere. Tripping over them in Mars, go around the corner to Sam Ash and they had another dozen, all the colors. Pretty standard Epi LP stuff at the time. rct
  14. I'm working on the intro to Crazy On You by Heart. rct
  15. "Can't play yer own until you can play everybody elses". Wise words of wisdom, probably the best thing I ever heard come out of Betts pie hole, followed by a great gust of Marlbl haze and Bud fumes. rct
  16. Try the decaff. I don't want to make you look bad or like you don't know anything. I have been around guitars a very long time and it is not very often they go in the case fine and come out "unplayable". If you don't want to touch the parts to make it work, say it. If you want to lover yer guitar, get in there and do something. Gibson doesn't respond to fixing guitars, Gibson dealers do. Take it to your local Gibson guy and start there. You will be a lot happier than waiting around for these guys, who are only going to tell you to take it to your local Gibson dealer. rct
  17. Surrender Cheap Trick, and Day Of The Eagle Trower. rct
  18. Strings that don't sound when played open are sitting on the frets. If it was played a short time and put away, how did that happen? What does the bridge look like? The nut? Are the strings laying on the frets? How does a guitar go from the greatest Explorer ever to unplayable while sitting in a case? Could the pridge posts have been turned accidentally? Can you not turn the bridge posts and lift the strings? Yes, this is the internet. Gripe away and do nothing, or try a few things to ease this "unplayable" condition your guitar has so mysteriously gotten into all by itself. rct
  19. No. I'm saying there are very few things that go wrong with guitars, strings, string heights, action, and playability. The most common one is that wonderful day that a guitar player gets his strings lower than anybody elses. The next day he is in here complaining about a crooked neck or crappy frets or some other thing, and never gets it when people like me tell him that 80% of his problems will go away with a smidge of a lift of the strings. If your guitar went in the case fine and came out not fine, there aren't many things that went wrong, and PLEK isn't one of them. What is unplayable? Is it unplayable all over the neck, up high? All strings, the low ones, the skinny ones? Can't bend? What is unplayable? rct
