  1. Well that was a good night. Hot, crowded early, thinned out, then picked up again late. Used Tele and Les Paul all night because of new amp, have to have the extensions of myself to wring this thing out and it was a great success. I like it a lot. I forgot to take pictures. Can't You See was the highlight of the evening, them peoples dug the hex out of that. Trower and Hendrix went over big. The crowd was up and sha la la'n so good in Brown Eyed Girl I forgot how to play the chorus and just dropped my arms and sang. It was bliss. Wish we were still at it! rct
  2. KT Tunstall and her super hawt White Dove. rct
  3. Holy crap what a day. Bass player annual back yard party. Us and his kid's band, Isn't It Always. Them kids were spectacular. We were...us. Had a friend with us, him and I always have a great time. Good old rock and roll from us with the requisite singing, great 90's pop punk from the kids, with the requisite singing, three sets each. Beer. Wine. Food. 50 people or so, lots of pool splashin and day drankin. Left at noon, got home about midnight. Yeesh. I took some pictures, maybe tomorrow, today later, I'll get them up here. rct
  4. Why? Physical violence between two guitar players is about as funny a thing as there is to see. rct
  5. When I was a young man and could tote a 10 pound Les Paul all night(still can), we moaned about how heavy they were and we wished for lighter pieces of mahogany. Now I'm an old man and we are wishing for the solid, heavy bricks we used to not have to even ask for. Your world is a strange and frightening place. rct
  6. Not exactly. In all three of them, the floor shop gets their wood on their pallets and the Custom Shop gets their wood on their pallets, and the two never mingle. Nobody picks and chooses like that, they pick and choose based on their own budgets and not what the other guy needs or wants, long before the blanks arrive. At Fender I sat on a pallet full of alder blanks going to Mexico for a picture while some jokers from the company were joking at how good these were compared to their CS blanks. And they were some nice pieces of wood! You could have a standard guitar weigh less than a Custom Shop job pretty easily if the buyer for the floor bought some juicy blanks. rct
  7. I know you think you know everything, and yer going to push people around with your smarts and such. But you've met your wall. Leo was a hypochondriac and had convinced himself he was sick beyond repair, thus selling the company would afford him and Phyllis some time to travel. He was not at all, and never thought of himself as any kind of luthier at all ever. He was a radio repairman that couldn't join the service because of his not so good eye and hated being an accountant. So, before you start telling me anything, think long and hard and go look it up before you spew, because I am never wrong about guitars, and more important, guitar history. rct
  8. If you think for one second that Paul Reed will not and does not put profits over his beloved instrument you are either very naive or 15 years old. In the late 70's/early 80's that guy would literally push you into a corner at the DC and PA guitar shows and make you play his guitars. rct
  9. This is what kills me. You come in here claiming to know more about guitars than me, which you don't, and you didn't know that about the lower bout binding on Les Pauls? rct
  10. Jesus dude I've been playing since 1971 and have used multiple dozens of all kindsa Gibsons. It's not like they're snapping off in the middle of Bad Moon Rising or something. That wouldn't even enter my list of cons of a Gibson, any Gibson. rct
  11. That's like walking 11 miles to work because buying a car means you might hit something. rct
  12. People lose their schit when we do Day Of The Eagle. We do Too Rolling Stoned, but not in a while, we'll have to dig that one up. rct
  13. Two words: On. Fire. Outstanding night, on from Feelin Alright to the end. One of them nights I'd still be playing if I could. Setlist: Action shots of The Rig: Used both all night. Great fun night of guitar playing and singing. rct
  14. oy. Fourth night in two months at this place. 4th night it friggin rains just when I head there. Noah Rain. Dammit. So we're supposed to be out on the deck tonight but the lightning just isn't going to work for us. This decision is made halfway through set up at about 6.30. We're on at 7. Tear it down and move it across the club to where there are 8 tables we have to get out of the way, and set it up again. So we get on about 7.30. Meh-ish for the first set. We hit it in the second and the rest of the night. Not bad overall. I know my pictures are highly anticipated, so here's setlist: And the rig: I used the Tele all night. Tomorrow night we get to do it all again at the tile floor/glass cooler doors surround sound Ice Pick Treble Bar & Grille! rct
  15. That would be me with a Trans Amber Les Paul. Thanks for the set list love, we can't believe how many people can't believe we do that stuff. It's weird, it's the most natural thing in the world for us, but apparently not that many are doing that stuff anymore. rct
  16. Just got in on Saturday night after an entire day gig, but just not able to sit down and write. Awful. 90 degrees, 80 something percent humidity. Super hot black roof over the usual collapsible metal stage. Nice breeze all day but just not enough. We slogged through it, me and bass both losing steam after second set, and when you lose steam it's the singing that goes first. We made it. Having serious doubts about doing this one next year, but even the people selling things in their booths and stuff and the people working the event were doubting the wisdom of doing this again. No setlist, I completely forgot to get one. Here's an action shot, I used both guitars all day. rct
  17. Good deal. Nobody got hurt, so they'll call you back, don't worry! rct
  18. I agree completely. I would not have bought it in the first place, but I'm not into vintage guitars at all. I'd return it and spend 2600 on a really nice Les Paul Today. rct
  19. As usual, the 600 pound gorilla that we are ignoring is how much you paid for it, which admittedly is none of anyone's business. If you want to know if yer gettin had it's hard to tell without the price. In my experience and opinion, refinished guitars are worth less, broke headstock guitars are worth even more less, and broke headstocks with paint put over to cover it is worth even more less than just the other two less. So, if you paid for a non broke guitar and got a broke one it would be a problem for me for sure. rct
  20. I do remember all Gold Les Pauls, but from recent times, last 10 years or so, maybe turn of the century. I do not remember any all Gold Les Pauls back then, but that doesn't mean much. The paint does look funny, and that Reg. No. 9 isn't something I've ever seen before, but that doesn't mean much. rct
  21. Oh dear. That's never good, sorry to hear that. rct
