Well, it was such a spectacular, unexpected gift the shine polishes all blame off the sweet banjo itself (don’t punish the kids because the uncle is a cad). Plus it doesn’t reflect on Pisgah at all. Patrick has been really cool about helping and answering questions through the whole purchase and after. And again, there will always be lots of places to spend our money. And it wasn’t like it was supposed to be a “deal,” if you want one, you pay full price, they are so sought after. So we have to consider, the price paid was the price we were willing to pay. That is why an adjustment for the condition would be a nice gesture, but it’s not really mandatory. They shipped a warrantied instrument in the build paid for, it only had been hanging around a long time and was a bit shop worn. I’m telling myself if it was the prime rib I bought, they’d call it “dry aged” and charge a premium for it, chuckle.
And you can bet if you get a "new" one it'll sound like crap compared to the one you have now.

I'm nobody in this discussion, but it sounds like the banjo is a great one, and you have now formed a relationship with the builder.

I agree 100%.

OP is fubar. He went directly from getting scammed to going to a random site and punching in his full name any random place he could.
I’m sure if he had to enter his credit card info to post here he would have
I try to be nice... But... Yikes.
Research everything, click on nothing.
Not saying all or even most are scams, but don't click on links here that are supposedly guitar photos "because I couldn't upload them on here".

Good luck, because you're gonna need it.

Whatever you guys have planned in 2024 will most likely be rehashing of models you haven’t made in a while, or new Artist Signatures. Definitely an Epiphone DG-335 & perhaps the Gibson version. You guys may start building the ES-175 or perhaps ES-330 again. More Epiphone USA Made Series. Perhaps building a Chet Atkins Gibson Country Gentleman? We know in September you’ll do another Joe Bonamassa Epiphone Signature or perhaps Gibson Signature of one of his guitars….Maybe the $50K mystery guitar that was supposed to be released in 2023 is pushed to 2024..
My guess is a white Hetfield Explorer and a Slash Jessica is next.

Not only do I want to get ripped off, but I want to get ripped off on a DAMAGED Gibson Guitar.
One every minute . . .
Yeah, and a company giving away DAMAGED goods for, what, PR reasons? 🤔

bought this a few years back, traded it for a Les Paul after a year & regretted it. shopped around for 2 years to find another . saw a couple but finally pulled the trigger on this one a month ago. some guy in North Carolina let me have it for a decent price. a 2017 Fender Exotic Series Tele Deluxe. Shawbucker pu's, but I threw in a pair of Kingfish signature pu's. supposedly Fender made 300, shipped 200 overseas ... really love this one. Merry Christmas to me ...

Per the back of the headstock, my Squier was "crafted" in Indonesia.
Ah. Didn't know that. For some reason I thought they were MIM too.

Forgot about those, you're probably right.

I have no idea what the used market is for electrics anymore.
I wouldn't chance it anymore. Look at the "is it real?" threads on here. Used to be a fake was an anomaly. Now it's like 40/60 in favor of Chibsons.

Maybe fretwork is what differs between Squiers and MIM Fenders? I have to say, haven't played a single MIM Strat with a single fret issue.
-
Nice. I've never played a Squier but I've played many MIM Fenders (all have been excellent) and Squiers are made in Mexico too, right?
I've always been impressed by Fender's Mexican output.

It was a blessing and a curse. I also started smoking and drinking at a very young age. I was gigging a biker bar in Apache Jct. (Mesa/Phoenix) at age 16, three nights a week while going to High school. And I had other side hustles. I was chatting with my high school English teacher one day and he said "Man, you're making more than I am."
But those times went by so fast, and the drinking and smoking will age you and kill you. I was still doing it into my late 40's, early 50's and finally had to stop or die.
The writing was on the wall.
It had always been on the wall.
I read a wonderful quote someone told the Megadeth bassist in rehab: "stop for a year. If you don't like it, we'll gladly refund all your misery." 😂

Cool story..
I’ve had LP’s since the late 60’s… With PAF’s, P90’s etc.. I still have a few.. One is a 90’s LP Std Plus Heritage Cherry I still own.. It has 490R & 498T Pups & I think they sound great! IMO they are some of the best sounding modern HB’s.. No shame with those Pups at all!
I’ve never owned an SG??? I don’t know why??
The 490 is essentially a Classic 57 with extra wires for those who need them.
I agree, it's excellent.

Sorry to hear that.
How's the humidity? Humidifier?
EDIT: oh, SoCal? Shouldn't be a problem then I think?

Next they'll go after Cream Puffs.

The price hike on Vs has been nuts.

"If Gibson is successful and DiMarzio’s marks are cancelled, it seems unlikely that Gibson will file for equivalent trademarks of its own – mainly because it is already arguing that the marks are generic."

I have to say I don't miss physical records at all. I know I'm supposed to, but I don't.

Gibson QC is spotty. Keep an extra hundred for whatever your local luthier will have to fix.
Most of the time it's just minor cosmetic stuff though.
