I used to build my own skateboards out of an old metal skate nailed on to a piece of wood, this evolved to a custom piece of wood made in woodshop with skate rink skates screwed on. This was well before skateboards were commercially available. It may have been a California thing as it was the land of sidewalks, lots of new concrete everywhere...

I thought it was some drought way back when that all the pools were empty in Cali and the skate rats discovered skating in pools....  and the rest is history.

  2. SF - I know you said you just haven't been able to get along with the Fender necks...  but really I'd probably be looking for a Fender Jaguar or Jazzmaster?...  something really short scale - just to round out the collection.  If that's not doable - an LP R8 could be pretty cool addition to your collection.  (inside thought...  let me spend your money!)

  3. Thanks all, really appreciate all the input.  With everything posted above I should be able to figure this thing out.  I'm away at the moment but once get back and can tackle this will post an update.

FWIW...  I never really used much reverb, it's more the fact it's not there that's urking me.  Once I can get it fixed, I'll be able to decide I don't like to use it again.

  4. Folks - I've got a blues jr that the reverb doesn't seem as strong as it once did.  This is an amp I've had for 20 yrs, and sat for several years at a time.  Do these amps need tune ups, and does it make sense the reverb may be going?

His wife is a strange one. They have lots of these. The one where they do BS - Paranoid is great too. Toyah  climbs the door in that one. Looks like a super modded Gold Top.

They're just freakin' awesome!  What a way to live...  thinking about how to put this stuff together.

I've done this for the last 7 years by my lonesome.  This year though, my little ones and wife helped out thankfully.  I have about an acre of land with mature trees all around so it takes quite some time to gather them all up and bag them.

This is the first years my kids have been able to help, raking...  and over the summer mowing the lawn.  They didn't do it all, but enough where it wasn't such a big chore.  I lived in africa for about 3 years with a family where the father had 4 wives and 17 kids.  I asked why so many kids, he replied, to help with the fields.  I don't need 17 kids, but getting the 3 I do have to help out works.

    I like playing original songs.

I love playing original songs...  being an open mic hero, to play any though that get received well - it's a matter of getting the audience to a point where they appreciate them....  otherwise the songs just become background noise to whatever discussion they're having at the moment.

Long scale would have slightly tighter strings, could be better for slide, but Gibson makes most guitars short scale!

If I have a nice bow in the neck to allow clean sliding, I tune it down another couple of steps (Open G becomes Open F) for the low down growl. Strings are loose, but! Easier on the guitar when it sits unplayed for a few weeks too.

Thx much BK, very much appreciate the input!
