RIP Slim Whitman

RIP Slim , you were a nice guy .

FWIW ,

Slim was a local here for about the last 50 years or more.

He lived in Middleburg which is about 25 miles south of Jacksonville.

I never actually met Slim but, most people around here knew who he was .

He lived in a very normal house out in the country. When you drove by , you would have thought it belonged to the local hardware dealer .

His reputation in the area was as a very normal, humble, unpretentious man.

He cut his own yard , did his own maintenance , was a loyal and loving husband and parent.

He wanted to be remembered as "a nice guy" . Pretty simple request, and pretty hard for some people to achieve.

Slim , evidently you were a "nice guy" ,and from everything I hear , "a good man ".

That says alot.

RIP ,

Billy

I met him about 15 years ago. He seemed to be amazed that I recognized him. I spent maybe 10 minutes talking to him and he spoke to me like we were best friends. Very unassuming! There aren't enough people like that in the world and now there is one less. Rest in peace Slim.
