macoshark
Hey, Thought I'd start another thread specific to the guitars I'm interested in buying. I'm looking at a Epi Dot. These a re supposed to have a "slim line tapered D'" neck. Not sure what to expect on the Dot. The Sheraton I have is a "C" neck. Does anyone here have both of thaes and have an opinion on how much the necks differ? thnx

Dennis G
Thnx Dennis- If I remember right you've owned or own a Dot.If so how would you describe the neck?Is it flat in back or a u shape? Have a Dot and the neck is similar to my Gibby LP. My Wildkat and Casino have a slimmer profile on the neck. Stuff like this doesn't bother me. I have so many guitars that they're all a bit different and I just adapt within a few minutes of playing whichever one I'm playing. That said, the Dot is not an uncomfortable or "bulky" neck. Definitely not "flat" though. Dot's are common enough that you should be able to find one somewhere to play to get a feel for it. Great guitar for the $$. jcwillow777
The neck on my Dot is fairly chunky and the neck on my Sheraton has a much slimmer profile. I prefer the neck on my Sheraton over my Dot, but I can easily get used to my Dot. My Sheraton has a much brighter sound than my Dot. I have an older Dot(2005) and Sheraton (2006), so I don't know how the new ones compare.
indiekiduk
I had a Korean 90's Sheraton and its neck was so fat it was unplayable. Now I have the 1962 Sheraton; it's neck is so slim it's like an Epi Les Paul and effortless to play.
russinator
I've seen Dots described as "slim line tapered D" and "slim line tapered C". The one I got seems to be a "C". I compared to several other Dots and a Casino when I got mine and found I prefered the neck on the one I got.
