Pappysquat
Hi all, new here. So, I picked this up recently but it doesn't look like all the others :) What do you guys think of this '65 LG-1 without a burst finish of any kind? Anyone seen another or have any insight? Thanks! QuestionMark
Definitely not a run of the mill LG1. If it's ladder and not x braced I suspect someone along the way had its sunburst removed, like John Lennon did with his J160 in the 60s. The fact it has no pick guard, besides its natural finish, could be an indicator that it's removal occurred at the same time. I have seen very faded cherry sunburst LG1's that almost look like a natural finish, but from the photo it looks like it's just natural. Had to be one of the two scenarios... zombywoof
Gonna agree that the guitar most likely did not leave the factory with a natural top and that the original cherryburst finish was probably just removed. Not only is the pickguard missing but you can see cleats where the back was repaired indicating the guitar definitely has been in the hands of a repair guy.
