newlife15
Good day all, I recently aquired an 1993 Epiphone Emperor II Joe Pass MIK Samick plant model in the Cherryburst color(I know, I know pics to follow) i have noticed that the binding has turned a beautiful yellow hue color and am curious if Samick back then used a poly finish or laquered? anyone know? thanks Roy
Parabar
Poly. Aside from vintage Epiphones, only rare limited edition or custom Epiphones use lacquer. The John Lennon Casinos are one such exception. Most of the Elitists even use a poly finish.
stein
Poly finishes DO yellow just like anything else. '93 should have significant yellowing by now. But also, the above post is correct. It's known they were made with poly.

StRanger7032
Samick was putting together some good stuff in '93. My G-400 is of the same vintage. Mine's definitely poly or the wall hanger would have eaten up the finish like it did on my SG.

Parabar
That's a sho' nuff purty one! I prefer the more subdued burgundy color on that burst to the brighter cherry, at least on the JP. Mine is a Samick from 2001, and is one of my favorite guitars.
