ES339 molded case

I ordered a wine red ES339 P90 this morning. Has anyone found a molded or TSA case for their ES339? I have only been able to find the Epiphone cases, and they get dinged up too easily due to the cheap tolex they use currently.

First off, incoming HNGD creekster52. I hope that you come to love that new P90 339 Pro as much as I love my HB equipped 339 Pro. It needed a thorough setup but now plays like a much more expensive instrument. A great guitar that I truly never expected to like this much. I've owned a '65 Gibson ES335 and a '72 Gibson ES330 so I understand very well what I'm comparing the Epi to. Again, a very good guitar that I already have several gigs on. Congrats on your new Epi. No, haven't seen or heard of one. I went with L&M's case for my 339 (or faced 6 month wait for the Epi case) and it too is sort of cheap. Very usual these days. Oh well, better the case gets dinged up than the guitar.

I don't need a Gibson case. The Epi cases are available. What I would like to have is a regular molded case, or an ATA molded case. I have checked with Gator and SKB. Neither currently have a case for an ES339. SKB stated they are developing a universal case, but did not have an expected availability date.

I do not have any idea how many ES339 units have been produced by Gibson and Epiphone combined, but since it has been in production since 2007 by Gibson, I really expected more case options.

On the brighter side...I love the guitar! Mine was a Level 2 at musiciansfriend in wine red. I could only find one small blem where the binding was not masked perfectly, and it is barely noticeable. This one has a 2014 Limited edition logo. I have not checked the serial number for the actual production date.

Hi, I have the Epi 339 case for my Casino Coupe, and it certainly is a lovely looking unit that fits the guitar precisely. I consider it an excellent value at the price I paid for it. However the covering is certainly not Tolex, it's just thin vinyl and probably wouldn't survive one hard bump into a concrete curb. The reason I'm happy with this case is that I rarely use it, since the guitar stays hanging up in my living room 99% of the time. When I do take it out I'm pretty careful with it, I don't let other people handle it (the case). Basically my point is, perhaps it's cheap enough that when it starts to show excessive wear you can justify replacing it with new.

Also, and I'm not proposing this idea, some people think that relicing the case (beating it up, slapping on a couple of eiffel tower stickers etc.) increases the mojo and might decrease the "visibility to thieves" of the valuable guitar inside. So there's that to consider.

For what it's worth (probably nothing). Good luck in your decision.

I agree. I really like Epi's case for my 339. Of course, I don't take it out of the house much, so I'm not really "testing" its durability. I think creekster's right though -- there don't' seem to be many case choices for the 339.

Hey kensh999 - You made me chuckle with your statement about the stickers. I was just thinking earlier this morning...bumper stickers are probably thicker than the vinyl on my Epi cases! I do have an older flat top EPI Dot/335 case with the good tolex. Must have been made before the archtop cases.

I have Gator ATA cases to use with my Dots and SGs (Just one of each for transport), and they are great. I suppose I will just get the Epi case for now, and hope Gator or SKB catches on to the pent up demand.
