brez9091
I bought one, when they first came out. Beautiful new guitar, that sounds older, than it is. Best NEW J-45, I ever played. It came signed on the inside label, by Donovan, along with a personally letter from him. I see new ones being sold now, without any of this. does anyone know if the autographed ones are no more? E-minor7
Maybe the hype just faded - or was there something about a disagreement. Did you get the silk & steel strings also ?
QuestionMark
Could be they are 1965 or 1964 J-45 Reissues and not the Donovan model.. Though some might be selling it or calling it the Donovan model.
brez9091
The more recent ones have "Donovan" typed on the label. But no autograph, as in the early issues. And yes it did come with the set of silk and steel strings as well stick of incense. Om.
QuestionMark
The mystery continues... I looked on the Internet and descriptions include the autograph...
E-minor7
The mystery continues... I looked at the Gibson site. No trace of Donovan there. First there is a mountain then there is no mountain then there is, , , , as he would say. .

mojoworking
I believe it was like the McCartney Epiphone Texan, limited to something like 1,500 guitars with the first batch of 500 aged and signed. After that they were not signed or aged. These figures may not be exact, but it was something like that.
brez9091
Yeah, the new were ones seem to have a polished finish. And the first batch was not. "Uncured". I think was the term they used. When I first got it I was a little put off by the pourous look. But in just a year, it has settled into the pores and looks much more natural, like an older guitar.
