MichaelDH
Locally online, someone has an Epi LP for sale, says it is a 1979, but I''m thinking maybe '89, haven't seen the serial number yet. Haven't seen it in person but in the picture it looks good. Asking $380. Price wise, seem to be in the ballpark for that year? Still trying to get a little more info on it. brad1
What kind of "Epi LP" are we talking about here? You need to be more specific. $380 is way too much for an 89.
Jon S.
Definitely wouldn't be a 79, as Epiphone didn't make any LP models until the mid-80's.
Cougar
$380 is way too much for an 89. I agree. There are plenty of LP Standards with various finishes that are only a few years old for $400 and less (on ebay, for example). This 2010 beauty was less than $400.... MichaelDH
I've been trying to get the serial # and some other info from him but he hasn't responded. I agree the price seems a bit high for the year but didn't know if there were something special/different about the older ones to make them resale higher than others. Regardless, I'm not pursuing it any farther as he isn't responding to emails about it.
cliffenstein
The 1989 models will likely have Epiphone's version of the Gibson open book headstock. This single factor is what generally makes the 1989 Epi LPs sell for more than other years.
iankinzel
1989 was also either the first or second year that Epiphone started making Les Pauls, so there's the novelty value there. Occasionally you see a Japanese-made Epi LP slip in unnoticed. Not often though.
