Need help with a serial number......

Hi Guys, can anyone help me with a serial number....the guitar is a 1920's circa Gibson L-3, I'm trying to figure out exact year.....serial number is 82287, any help appreciated! Thanks....by the way, this is a BEATER, so no pics this time.....great plucky sound however.....thanks

should be a 1924.. and should have a truss rod as well.

Per Joe Spann's book, dating by the instrument's FON is more accurate for this era.

 

That's what I used in dating my 1922 mandolin, and the numbers were available online.

The published SN records I have show that number to be from 1925.

 

1925: (approx) 81200 - 82700

 

The numbers shown in slimt's post correspond fairly closely to the year "ending" numbers of what I have, in which case would also lead to 1925.

Thanks guys.....didn't know of that resource.....this one does have a truss rod!
