Confused With Models

What are these?

Signature-is it a Standard? Why is there no signature on them?

Classic

Les Paul Plus

Les Paul HP

T

Traditional T

Anybody know where Gibson explains all these names they seem to yank out of a hat and assumes we know what they mean?

Signature models I think are usually somehow linked to Les Paul himself... (not sure on that one though)

Classic, its like a standard but with a plain top and hotter uncovered pickups and a 60s neck (and theres a T and HP version)

Les Paul Plus, Plus usually refers to a more flamey top

Les Paul HP, HP stands for High Performance which have wider necks, auto tuners and zero fret nuts (ala 2015 features)

T, is the T line (as in NOT an HP model), this stands for Traditional Specs, as in anything before the 2015 models

Traditional T, its a LP Traditional which is again like a standard but with a non weight relieved body (depending on year) and if its a T it has traditional neck width, normal manual tuners and a usual type nut.

And yes.. it does all get fairly confusing and is hard to keep up with sometimes.

No worries...

I find that the best questions to ask when looking for a new guitar is.. What sort of neck do you like and what sort of pickups do you want (hot or mellow or somewhere in between). Answering those two questions will usually help slim your choice down a bit...

One really strange listing is by a guy selling a Signature converted to a Standard. I'm not sure you can do that. Heck maybe you can.

What year is it a 2014?

Like this

Converting that would mean replacing the boost switch with the second tone pot and possibly adding pickup covers... maybe replacing the truss rod cover and changing the pickguard to a standard one.

So yes you can.. sorta...
