jedzep
I have 'rented' at least 40 guitars since the internet came into my world. That is, as long as there is a return option, I never minded risking the return shipping costs in order to try out guitars in my living room. I'm an hour and a half from any real guitar store, so the opportunity to shop in the ether has afforded me a great array of instruments to play/hear at home with no travel costs, including vintage stuff I can't get at these outlets. It's the best of all worlds if you can deal with shipping hassles. This might be a good way of looking at it for you too, Buc.
sbpark
I played an early 70's F40 that a coworker ows and offered it to me for $450. Nice sounding guitar at a great price, but the narrow nut width was a total deal breaker for me.
