ZapTap
I got an SG 61 Reissue as a gift, and I was curious as to what year it is (2007, 2008, 2009 even maybe :P ) but the date on the inspection tag is blank
hbomb76
Google "Gibson serial number" and you'll come up with many sites that'll help you use the stamped serial number on the back of the headstock to determine the year of manufacture. Good luck! H-Bomb
ZapTap
oh, hehe, I just saw it on the back of the headstock under the s/n thanks for the info
flyingarmadillo
You could look here: http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Support/SerialNumberSearch/ They have standard Gibson serial numbers so you can get it down to the day of the year if you want. MI_Canuck
oh' date=' hehe, I just saw it on the back of the headstock under the s/n :- thanks for the info[/quote'] well Gibson started only doing that in 2008 i believe... so you most likely have a 2008 (or maybe 2009 if they started shipping those)... i think the reason for now adding the year stamped in the headstock under the s/n is to further reduce couterfeits... whether effective or not, who knows... but the year can also be known from the s/n as mentioned above... [/quote'] I would wonder, as well, how that could be effective? I noticed it on my daughters '08 Studio and thought it odd, albeit kind of cool. Murph. ZapTap
the s/n doesn't seem to do much for me in the first place, since it's stamped onto the 61 reissue and blends with the finish:-s
