Jim Wilson
Happy Birthday to Ramblin' Jack Elliott (Elliott Adnopoz), who turned 87 today. Also, Jerry Garcia would have been 76 today.
Murph
It took me a long time to "get" Jerry Garcia. His love for acoustic music stayed with him his entire life and I'm glad I dug a little deeper than the Dead.
LP Trad Pro II
It took me a long time to "get" Jerry Garcia. His love for acoustic music stayed with him his entire life and I'm glad I dug a little deeper than the Dead. Loved going to GD shows. Next week on the 9th is the day Jerry passed. 62burst
The Grateful Dawg dvd has some good insight from his fellow musicians and from his family, as to how heavy was the crown of the King of the Hippies. Some fine acoustic music happened when he de-escalated things. Couldn’t find it on YouTube, but there is a great version of Friend of the Devil on the Grateful Dawg dvd if anyone wanted to do an acoustic cover of it. Especially a mandolin player (Murph). What a lyrical touch Jerry had on the guitar. David “Dawg” Grisman takes the mando for a dance in this stage performance: Happy birthday, Jerry:
