Btown99
Anyone have any idea as to the year of this? It was given to me a long time ago (about 20 years ) from an old man in a Guitar center parking lot. Any help appreciated. JuanCarlosVejar
Looks like a 50’s LG 2 to me. I’ll see what I can find out based on the number inside thr guitar. Edit: Possibly a 1957 JC Edited January 5, 2019 by JuanCarlosVejar
Btown99
Awesome! I look to what you find out! Thanks 🙏
jedzep
Looks like a sweet little 50's era LG1 or LG2. If there is a straight across piece of bracing just inside below the sound hole it's the former. If it's a V-shaped brace it's the latter and considerably more valued and valuable. jedzep
...or an LG1, if the brace just inside and below the sound hole is straight across instead of V shape. Either way, a badasss gift. V shape equals more better. At least I ain't crazy. Thought I already replied, but it's a double post mofo. Btown99
Looks to be straight. Like I said I got it free so either way I’m good. Thanks for the help
J-1854Me
Early '50s LG-1 or -2.
j45nick
1951 LG-1. No centerline back strip, so probably LG1. FON says 1951. Really nice firestripe pickguard, maybe a leftover from an early period that they found in the bottom of the bin. Btown99
Thanks for all the help. I’ve always wondered what the year really was ever since he gave it to me. Probably worth some bucks. Not looking to sell it really, but nice to know otherwise. Thanks again
jedzep
Did he just walk up to you cold and give it to you? What's the back story? Do you play at all? That weathered look is classic. Nothing prettier. Edited January 6, 2019 by jedzep

Asking price is 2,900 JC
jedzep
Yikes! That would be a possible asking price for a same year LG2. If you use market watch to assess the value of a guitar, sold stats rather than asking price is the best indicator. This ops nice looking LG1 is a thousand dollar guitar for ladder brace fans, if it doesn't need a neck reset. It was a gift so it's all good. Been playing off and on for a about 25 years. Looking forward to hearing that long story. Sorry cant make a guess on year, as most know its risky to click on links that have an unfamiliar url. Usually can click on the post's reply button to get a better look, but especially not clicking when put up by a person who just joined forum yesterday. Apologies
