slasher1319
I want to remove the pickup covers from my 08 gibson lp studio; what color would the coils be underneath the guitar. Would it be cream and black, double black or double cream? Or can it be any one of them? thanks for your help.

Thundergod
I think AXE is right.

Rocky4
I think there is a gluey mess to deal with
AXE®
You can use a Dremel on the solder, but you have to be careful. Masking all the cavities to keep grinding dust out of the nooks Or a chisel tip soldering iron, just melt the solder and separate from the pickup. If the pu's are potted you can take a hair drier and carefully get off the excess wax and just wipe it off with a rag..
tuckomf
I'd be nervous to use a dremel due to the risk of getting metal shavings inside the pickup itself.
bobv
Dan Erlewine did a tips newsletter at StewMac.com on this. You can use a soldering iron and a razor blade (or anything thin like an artist's palette knife) to separate the covers where they're tacked with solder on the back. Hold hte pickup in a vise. Then when the cover is off you'll have to deal with the wax. Try it with just the bridge pickup first like Jimmy Page did.
