PJW439
Hello, Does anyone know where I can find the actual dimensional neck specifications for the current Historic series '34 Jumbo and '42 Banner. Thank you in advance Paul
Dave F
This may not be as much as you're looking for but here's from Gibson's website I'm not positive what the Historic AJ, V, and C shapes are. The Southern is a little wider than the other two. '34 Jumbo Neck Material Mahogany Profile Historic AJ Scale Length 25.5" / 647.7mm Fingerboard Material Rosewood Fingerboard Radius 12" Number Of Frets 19 Frets Standard Nut Material Bone Nut Width 1.72" / 43.81mm Inlays Mother-of-pearl Diamonds and Arrows Joint Compound Dovetail Neck-to-body '42 J45 Neck Material Mahogany Profile V Scale Length 24.75" / 628.65mm Fingerboard Material Rosewood Fingerboard Radius 12" Number Of Frets 19 Frets Legend Wire Nut Material Bone Nut Width 1.72" / 43.81mm Inlays Mother-of-pearl Dots Joint Compound Dovetail Neck-to-body '42 Southern Jumbo Neck Material Mahogany Profile C Scale Length 24.75" / 628.65mm Fingerboard Material Rosewood Fingerboard Radius 12" Number Of Frets 19 Frets Legend Wire Nut Material Bone Nut Width 1.77" / 44.95mm Inlays Mother-of-pearl Parallelograms Joint Compound Dovetail Neck-to-body

PJW439
Thank you for your response...Wildwood did have the actual neck dimensions for both those models listed. Paul
zombywoof
The 1.01" neck depth listed in the Wildwood specs is just a bit shy of the neck on my '42 J50. The neck on the '42 Banner is obviously noticeably slimmer. Edited October 31, 2020 by zombywoof

The Wildwood spec '42 J-45 looks like a really nice guitar, and pretty analogous to the J-45 Legend, except that the Wildwood spec has a cooked adi top. All hide glue--everything. I think the Legend has a 1.75" nut, however, while the Wildwood spec has the "modern" nut width. of about 1.725". I wonder if it has cloth side stays, like the Legend models? ZW, what's the string spacing at the bridge on your '42?

When I originally looked at the Wildwood Gibson neck specs I came away thinking the '34 Jumbo would be the one I was most comfortable with. The string spacing on the '42 is the typical skimpy 2 3/16." I am guessing this became more or less standard in 1941 when Gibson went to scalloped bracing. The string spacing on my 1920 L3 and 1932 L1 as well as a 1935 Gibson-made Capital I owned up tp a few months ago is 2 3/8" although Gibson being Gibson they all vary slightly.
