Greg Schochet
I've got an ES-125 that has 9717 18 stamped inside as the only marking, with the space as I typed. Coupla pictures attached. 125 - front.HEIC pM8wx.heic
Sgt. Pepper
Gibson's serial number system has changed so much over the years. Anything goes.
Twang Gang
Very nice looking guitar. Dating by serial numbers for that era is difficult as the numbering system changed several times and the same serial number could have been used on more than one guitar. By a quick search of serial number dating websites yours is probably from around 1963 or so. But again, that could be way off.
JimR56
I can't see your photos, and couldn't open them after downloading. .heic? Not familiar with that format. Anyway, the number you posted looks like a factory order number (FON), not a serial number. According to my go-to site (http://www.guitarhq.com/gibson.html#serial), that FON would date the guitar to 1951. If I could see the photos, it would help to verify this possibility. j45nick
I could open the photos using windows photo viewer. Based on the factory order number and what I see in the photos, 1951 seems reasonable. Looks to be in very nice shape. I know very little about this series of guitars, however. Tuners are not original.
