Flight959
Guys, I have a lovely old classical guitar from 1966 (Not Gibson) which was given to me recently... After re stringing it and letting it settle the action is a bit too much on the high side.. Is there anything that can be done to lower the action to a more comfortable level... callen3615
Wait so let me get this straight. You restrung the guitar and now the action is different from before? Id check the neck relief.
Flight959
No the guitar only had a few strings on it when it was handed to me... Its not been played for years...

I could be wrong but I think on an acoustic the only variable for changing the action would be to file down the saddle part of the bridge and or the nut.... Then there is always the truss rod... Play a bit with the relief...
Flight959
Dave, I wish it had the luxury of a Truss Rod... Regards
daveinspain
So how old is this guitar? What make is it? Pics?
Flight959
It's a Handmade Yairi B&M Soloist from 1966. It has a Spruce top, Mahogany back and neck with Grained Mahogany on the sides... Its in OK condition and looks cool where the top has suffered considerable checking... The fret board is supposed to be rosewood but I'm not sure. I will try and get some pics up. I saw one identical on ebay recently up for £400.. Its got a very nice tone... Regards

daveinspain
I'd say take it to a Luthier and see what he says about lowering the action.... Got a pic of the nut?
