max2343
How Much Value Would you loose if Any on a Completly Original 25 year old Gibson if you just Replaced the Pot's & Caps. I have one and I'm just Dying to Install 500 or 1 meg Pots to Open up my Sound.
Tim Plains
Depends on the buyer, I suppose. Me, I'd say $0. Just keep the original pots & caps, put them back in if you ever choose to sell. If a guy gives you a hard time over broken solder joints, you probably don't want to sell it to him. max2343
Broken Solder Joints Do Kinda Seem like a Big Deal though, right.
Riverside
Do you want to play it, or save it for some museum someday? If you're worried that maybe, some collector might not want to pay stupid dollars for a guitar that has never been ___, then put it in a glass case and never touch it again. Otherwise, unless you hack the crap out of it, I say do what you want and let the chips fall where they may.
Murph
My '61 Melody Maker has been in the family since '70. (my son had it for 10 or 15 years) It's not for sale. I had it refinished in clear poly around 1978. 1 piece Mahogany body. I'm sure that ruined the value.....
