Witmer
New Guitar... Dream... I have these periodically, which is weird since I haven't bought a guitar in six or seven years, and am usually quite content with what I have. This time it was a really nice looking wine-red Epiphone LP with creme binding, pickguard, etc. But Epiphone? Not what I'd call the guitar "of my dreams"... in the dream, the idea was that this was to be used as a "backup" guitar. Which makes me wonder - what do you all think about buying cheaper guitars to use as emergency gig backups? Is this common? I've kind of come to think that a guitar should be more useful than that to justify the purchase, but then I haven't so much as broken a string in years. RichCI
I'd buy one as a backup only if you don't already have one that'll do the job even if it's not ideal for your gig situation. The way I figure it, if you break a string, you can get through the rest of a set with almost anything until you can change the string on your main guitar. deepblue
Nothing wrong with having a less expensive backup guitar.

LPguitarman
I would definitely buy an Epi as a back-up if I needed one. My son has a Sweet looking Transparent Blue Epi LP as his main guitar.
