Effects loop question

You aren't getting an atenuator effect' date=' you are either taking down the preamp gain or the power amp volume. Do it with your front panel's gain and volume controls, less cables to worry about.

Wait... is that amp a tube amp? [lol

Well, that's why I described it as a ghetto rigged attenuator [biggrin]

I don't really know what else to call it, it lowers the level on my amp, for practice.

50 watts is still freaking loud with the volume on about 2 man, this enables me to get power tube breakup (I swear it does) and still keep levels low.

As long as it doesn't hurt it... [biggrin]

I don't think it allows you to get power tube breakup, the loop is between the preamp and power amp in the circuit, so by using it at low settings you are only taking down the preamp out volume/gain, which does nothing to the power amp section.

An atenuator goes between the power output and the speaker/speaker cab.
