George D. Stout
I have an opportunity to buy this Gibson. Serial number is 629024, and I'm assuming it's an SG. I've only seen it in an ad for the auction. Any help?
HannahMichelle
Well, Its an Angus Young Signature SG. Its basically the same as any other SG, but a with a few modeifications. It has a tremolo bar, a custom pickguard, and a custom bridge. Ummm..... mentioning that you're buying it from an auction, it may not be perfect. Used instruments are usually not 100% spectaluar. I would suggest buying one from a direct music store. But that's just my opinion. Hope that helps! ^^
flyingarmadillo
Making some assuptions about other makings on the headstock, Guitar Dater ( http://www.guitardaterproject.org/gibson.aspx ) says it's somewhere between 70 and 72. Call Gibson Customer Service and they can probably answer your question. BTW, it's absolutely not an Angus Young Signature. The trem is wrong and so is the pickguard. It appears to be an SG Pro, although I'm pretty sure those came with P-90s. They were only manufactured in 1971. http://www.vintageguitars.org.uk/gibSG72p5.php
George D. Stout
I was interested in this particular guitar since it's on a weekday and the auction may not be all that well attended. Wondering what I should look for as a top price.

GuitarJunkie
Well' date=' Its an Angus Young Signature SG.[/quote'] Other than the body shape, that's about as close as that on gets to being an Angus.
