Tasteful playing!

I've just watched the new Chickenfoot video and have been trying to get into Joe Satriani before I see him.

Is it me or is this stuff boring? It's too clinical. I watched Bon Jovi in concert on tv last night and Sambora had a lot of 'taste' in his playing. Not just 'scales'. He Puts a lot into his playing.

There's more to playing than playing the notes.

Ie, Gary Moore 'Parisian Walkways'.

Most of Neil Shon's playing is 'Tasty'

Jeff Beck. All of it

Steve Lukather, Rosanna.

Les Paul, How High the Moon.

Feel free to add.

Or ad boring playing.

I saw Satriani live back in the early 90's and I nearly fell asleep..... Watching a single guitar player play lick after lick after lick with limited vocals bores the crap out of me...... Which is why I can't watch classical players either.......

I like watching bands [biggrin]

Just my thoughts.

I never used to like Clapton. Then about 15 years ago my sister in law bought me a ticket to see him. Enthralling on stage. His playing came across better live than on record.

I saw David Bowie on his 'Ziggy Stardust' tour (yes I'm that old) and Mick Ronson's playing urged me on to want to play better.

Where has that 'Taste' gone?
