Suicidehummer
I have seen some white ones with bound necks. Was this an option or just a common mod?
rockman82
My guess would be a custom order. I don't know what finishes were available back then.
pohatu771
The SG Junior in white was actually the SG TV model, and the finish was called "Cream," though it was referred to as "White" later on. It was introduced in late 1961 with the SG Junior, which was available in Cherry. Neither model seem to have a bound fretboard, according to catalogs, though the SG Special did. Suicidehummer
Not mine but I was going to buy one just like it until I found a great deal on a Custom Shop VOS Standard. And I was referring to the bound neck, I know white was a color option, lol.
Explorer
Your guitar is the first SG junior I have seen with the bound fingerboard. I would say that's not the original board. But I would need closer pictures to tell for sure. To my knowledge bound fingerboards were only available on the upper SG models. But there is the possibility that it could of been done as part of a custom order, as the polaris white is a custom color.
