Joe Pass Emperor II:

Your guitar was made at the

Samick Plant, Korea

July 1994

modifications:

1. frequensator tailpiece...I wanted to reference epiphone's history (I did this)

2. chrome and black top hat knobs like the standard broadway (I did this...wasn't hard LOL)

3. removed pickguard, which was warped

4. fix bridge and set intonation (I did this)

5. truss rod adjustment and set-up (pro)

6. rewire pots for standard RH operation...full tonal range restored! (pro $25)

7. lower action and restring w/ D'Addario EXL110 10-46 (I'm not a jazz player)

8. first a pick, then a bit of foam wedged in next to neck PU to stop sympathetic buzz

9. PU height and pole pieces dialed in (I did this)

the pickups might get swapped out in the future, but they sound OK...I wanted to add imperial

buttons, but the tuners are not grovers...the imperials went on my EJ300S...

fun to play unplugged and electric...color is a little off in this photos, much nicer in person:

Casino:

Your guitar was made at the

Saein Plant, Korea

August 2005

modifications:

1. removed pickguard, which caused static electricity

2. truss rod adjustment and set-up (pro)

3. rewire pots (new) for standard RH operation...full tonal range restored! (pro $25)

4. lower action and restring w/ D'Addario EXL110 10-46

5. pointer knobs...or were they stock?

6. RH "e" TRC...the lefty one looked weird (pointing in)

7. new toggle switch

8. pole pieces dialed in (P90s sound good)

9. new nut

plays great electric and unplugged and very well made...very narrow nut and one piece neck with the exception

of a little heel piece were it meets the body...I'd like to get the longer 6" trapeze (color is a little off in these photos):

Elitist Les Paul Standard:

Your guitar was made at the

Fuji-gen Plant, Japan

2004

modifications:

1. truss rod adjustment and set-up (pro)

2. rewire pots for standard RH operation...full tonal range restored! (pro - free)

3. mystery 250K pot replaced w/ 500K (single pot, bought new, so who knows

how that happened? strange...tech might have done it during initial set-up but

that's even weirder)

4. lower action and restring w/ D'Addario EXL110 10-46

5. pointer knobs

6. PU height and pole pieces dialed in

I think the wire on the bridge has developed a small rattle and I'd like to replace

the tuners with nickel green keys at some point...other than that, it's great:

Gibson SG Special Faded:

Your guitar was made at the

Nashville Plant, TN, USA

February 15th, 2005

Production Number: 44

modifications:

1. truss rod adjustment and set-up (pro)

2. restring w/ D'Addario EXL110 10-46

3. pointer knobs

4. PU height and pole pieces dialed in

5. black TRC replaced w/ 2-ply B&W

6. pickup covers added

7. new knobs

probably my best guitar...very well made and resonant when played unplugged...three

piece body, you can see the two small additional pieces in the photos (not so visible in

person)...appears to be a one-piece neck, grain is continuous w/ no seams...thought

about adding a maestro (I have a NOS LH string anchor) but it plays really well now

so I'll probably just leave it...the only LH guitar I have that came with standard RH

wiring and full tonal range!

Fender USA Standard Stratocaster:

Your guitar was made at the

Corona Plant (Fender), USA

in the Year(s): 2001 - 2002

modifications:

1. truss rod adjustment and set-up (pro)

2. restring w/ D'Addario EXL110 10-46

3. bright white plastic parts replaced with off-white

that's about it...eventually I want to have it rewired to RH like the guitars above but I don't

have the cash right now...bought used, practically unplayed:

Your guitar was made at a factory not yet added to the database

July 2004

Production Number: 0553

Samil, Korea, I think...new nut, bridge, imperial keys, brought back to life after the previous owner

let it dry out and lied about it on ebay...needs to have action lowered sometime this week

but I can tell it's a good one! solid top...

AJ-18S-12 LH:

AJ18S12LH.jpg

AJ18S12LH1.jpg

AJ18S12LH2.jpg

purchased off ebay for $225 with a nice beat-up but solid case...the last two I saw

on went for over $500! previously owned by a member of the Outlaws...nice

low action, great tone and projection...new nut...solid top

Your guitar was made at the

Zaozhuang Saehan, China

May 1998

Production Number: 7042

Zaozhuang Saehan Music Co., Ltd. This company has been around for 40 years and

Yamaha FG-413SL:

FG413SL1.jpg

FG413SL2.jpg

my first acoustic...solid top, real nice and well made, aside from some fret wear on

first 2 frets...due for a nut / saddle / bridge pin upgrade, I'd definitely buy another

Yamaha...

serial number is too hard to decipher...I think it's a 2004 made in Taiwan...

NOT PICTURED: A 1999 Alvarez left-handed acoustic guitar....

I have too many instruments as it is...but I still get GAS.....particularly for things like Iommi pickups, an archtop, and other things of that ilk. I am also intrigued by products like the Prophecy EX, the Goldtop, and a host of other items...so it's probably a good thing I'm a southpaw....

And, at the end of the day, I'm still of the impression that no matter how you slice it with electrics, a single coil guitar and a humbucking guitar is all even the most enterprising guitarist actually needs....
