bobv
Agreed - Shaller and Dunlop are both great products. Sometimes I can't remember why it was that I used one over the other on a particular guitar, but all of my axes have straplocks. And DaveC you may be right, if i recall correctly the F#$ders have short screws so the hole needs to be drilled deeper. Geet - you'll need a number 8 screw, one and a quarter inches long, standard flat-head (bugle head) wood screw. Take the original Gibson screw from the butt-end strap pin to the hardware store so you make sure you're not wasting the eight cents on the wrong screw (and the time, of course). The original Gibson screw from the button near the neck will fit through the Schaller pin without any modifications. Don't forget the washer like NeoConMan points out - you don't want the new screw to go in further than the old one where the butt end is concerned. NeoConMan
Thanks mate. Will do. Is it a certin washer also? I used faucet washers, 1/2" diameter. Made by Danco of buna rubber, will not harm the finish. They are about 3 times the thickness of a normal metal washer. I don't know what sort of plumbing products you can buy Down Under, but check your hardware store.
