Epiphones are made in Asia.. some also in the US ( I think the Elitist) but mainly in south east Asia as they have cheap labor. Yup there are Epiphone made in Indonesia too and they are completely authentic and of similar quality (considered as a better quality than the ones made in China {EE}) as rest of the Epiphones. there are always lemons when there's mass Production but most them are of a good quality. I once owed an Indonesian LP-100 and it was really good. It's serial number as far as i know should start with the initials "SI" which some people refer to "Samik" as it is "Samik Indonesia" the initials are followed by the year, month and the manufacturing number.

so if it's SI08124567 it's "Samik Indonesia 2008 December and the manufacturing number is 4567

Hope it helped !! :D/

SI = Samik Indonesia

"SI" is indeed Samick Indonesia. Another one I've heard about has the "SN" indicator.

Reports on quality have been diverse... some good, some not so good...

The factory list and serial indentification thread I posted was "removed"(by Epiphone) for unknown reasons.

They made a batch of USA Spirts in the early 80s that had both Gibson and Epi Badgeing, I have one of the Gibsons, and wasn't that happy when i saw a guitar like mine with the Epi logo. Other then that, none that i know of. Stan.
