New 2009 Acoustics?

Has there been any announcement of new Epi acoustics for this year? I've seen the electrics and just wondering if I've missed the acoustics? There was an industry event recently (NAMM), anyone see anything there?

Wonder if any acoustics are on tap for the "Historic Custom USA" line. That would be sweet- a USA made Epi acoustic.

To that end, what would enhance the acoustic line-up? A solid top Jumbo, such as an improved EJ-300? a USA made Texan?!

Oops! Forgot something. How about a decent 12-string? Even all solid wood--dare we even think' date=' a Masterbilt?[/quote']

That would be nice. I didn't care for the last 12. DR212?

Have there been any new MBs since they came out, 2004?

And stone's Texan would be a awesome. Is that a Paul Mc sig. to compliment the Lennon EJ 160?

I just found a similar thread in the FEEDBACK forum. At risk of a double post, here is my wish list guitar,

I'd like a folk-style acoustic guitar, say a Masterbilt EF body style with a Masterbilt 12-fretter slotted neck. I know they made the AJ model, but I want the EF body style with a short scale. This does not have to be a Masterbilt, but then again maybe it does to attract the mid-level buyer and give it some distance from the EL-00. I do not want an entry level guitar, nor do I want it called "parlor" guitar.

Solid Sitka Spruce top

Mahogany body

Scale 24.75"

FB-Inlay Rosewood-Dot

Headstock cream binding (a touch of bling!)

1.68" nut

No pickguard, but willing to discuss.

Natural finish gloss, but willing to discuss.

Neck-profile Set Mahogany- V, but willing to discuss.

Hey, it's my wish list, what do you think? :P

Yeah. I was lucky enough to snag one of those(trans red) when MF discontinued and blew them out about a year ago for $140!

The Epiphone.com site has a couple electrified flat tops I hadn't seen before.. or don't recall anyways.

And for you nostalgic types that double on solid bodies, the Epiphone Wilshire is being re-issued. It was and is an upscale version of the Crestwood / Coronet. Better bring the check book. I suspect it won't sell for the same $210.00 they sold for in '62.

Now if 'n they'd just bring back the more affordable version... Think of it, an Epiphone that looks like... and Epiphone. Now where's the Scroll tooling? :-k

What's the scale length of that model? If I remember correctly it's 25.5" and I didn't buy it because of that. Same with the Epi Hummingbird and Dove they are all 25.5 and the Gibby's are short scale.

The Epi Elitist J-45 was 24.75" short scale. Anyone have one of those?

Well, I'm not a steel string fingerpicker. I did take classical guitar in college and never adapted to steel string fingerstyle. I need a pick.

They just turned 2 this month. They were introduced Jan. 2007. Press Release Link.

The acoustics line hasn't added much in a while. I think the Elvis model is 2008. Not sure of much else. I have to wonder if acoustics are dying.

Look at the number of posts in the Electric forum vs. the Acoustic forum. Yep, they're dying!

I have to disagree. I am a member of several other guitar-related forums, some of which are brand related, others are not. The post numbers on the brand related sites are dismal, but the posts on the non-brand related forums are through the roof. I must believe that the market, if you will, is restricted on brand related forum sites. I think interest in acoustic guitar is as large as ever, and may be growing.

I do not post frequently on this site or any site unless a topic which interests me appears. I suspect may others are the same. Perhaps electric players are simply more verbose.

Could be that the acoustic players are too busy playing guit tar to spend time playing on the internet! =D>/

When times are tough people turn to music. When times are tough, people conserve their cash. What better way to turn to music and conserve cash than by buying non-electric instruments?

Also could be that *some* of the acoustic players are a bit less techno-savvy than the electros! I dunno, but ask either my wife or my band!

I think you'll find that the AJ-45 1963 Ltd was a 24.75" scale according to the MF website.

(click here http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Limited-Edition-1963-AJ45-Round-Shoulder-Dreadnought-Acoustic?sku=512540 )

The specs stated 24.75" but it was actually the 25.5" scale. It also came with chrome grovers and not the original spec white button tuners that were shown in the photo. The earlier Korean version had the short scale and white button tuners.

Why would they do two versions of the same freakin guitar???!!! The earlier Korean Made J-45 with the white Kluson-esque tuners and non-binding neck is the real limited edition and is comparable to the Gibson one... The newer Indonesian ones with neck-binding and Grover tuners are just a compromise rather than an alternative... I had the oportunity to grab a newer one but I refused because it's not a 'real' J-45... It made me kind of angry but I hope I'll find one of the older ones when I'm in London...

Cheers

Nick

BTW: I have some reliable info bout the Limited Edition Texan that's been rumoring through this forum! It's due to April and it will be introduced on the Frankfurt Music Fair along with the Inspired by John Lennon Casino...

Beats me. But perhaps they made too many AJ bodies and ran out of the short scale necks and white button tuners. So they slapped on a long scale bound neck and some grovers and sold it at a reduced price. I've never owned a short scale acoustic, so the long neck wasn't a problem.

BLUESMASTERBLUESMASTERBLUESMASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There it is again, someone talking about this Bluesmaster. They appear to have become legendary.

What was the deal on the Elitist L-00? I've never heard anyone even mention it, which gives me the impression that it wasn't as good as the Bluesmaster. Or did it just not sell very well?

Sorry, but it's usually me, and/or Pete Wilson, bless 'im--and sometimes in response to each other. Played one one time and fell in love--this after they were pulled. Aaargh! I guess I figure (can't speak for Pete) if enough people make enough noise someone out in Epi-land will take heed.

Elitist L-00????? wasn't aware of that one, myself. Wouldn't be too fond of the stock L-00 except for a bang-around practice/recreational box. Anything more to the El. model, anyone?
