As I explained in another post I recently bought a epi les paul ultra and loved it......in fact I loved it so much I bought

a 56 gold top......think these are discontinued now.

While I love the playability etc......the p90,s dont do it for me.

Can anyone suggest some replacements with a bit more.."chug"........

I got the same guitar and feel the same way. Somewhere on this site i asked the same question{ca'nt find] but i know that mini humuckers or a p90 like humbucker is the only option without haveing to inlargepup pocket on guitar, Although i must say the longer I play this guitar the more the p90's sound ok, still quite deferrent and noiszy,

Is it that you don't like P90's, or just don't like THOSE P90's?

IMHO, Epi P90's suck! I have ripped them out of every guitar I have and replaced with Original gibby P90's. (Look at ther picture of my casino on my avatar)

You could try a stacked humbucker, a P94, or seymour duncan makes a humbucker that will fit in this guitar.

If your into vintage music, try a set of Lindy Fralins in this ax. They sound great in this guitar. Vintage tone, crisp sound.

I didn't like the P90s either, so I put a set of minis in mine. I use too many pedals and P90s don't like pedals. I put Gibson Minis in the GT that is in my avatar. I have been very happy since I made the change.

I think SD makes a set of pickups that are voiced like the P90s but are humbuckers that fit the P-90 cavity. Someone one on this forum put some in his guitar and loves them. If I hadn't put minis in mine I may have considered those. I can't remember what the pickups are called though.
