Thankyou Epi-1! 8-[=D> =D> =D>

A quick general question' date=' regarding Epi necks (especially on the Semi's). Why the 3-piece, and not 1 piece?!

Cost only...or other considerations? Just curious...

Hi Charlie,

Certainly, cost is a factor but it goes beyond that. To make a 1-pc neck you have to find and purchase large blocks of Mahogany (or other neck wood). Given our angled headstock and the heel design (as opposed to a flat headstock, heeless design), you then have to essentially carve and throw away about 60% of the wood to make one neck. That means a tremendous amount of waste at a time when good wood is a precious commodity. Additionally, the production process to make a 1-pc neck is significantly different (tooling, jigs and fixtures) than our current 3-pc production process. When all is said and done, the practical difference between a correctly made 3-pc neck and a 1-pc neck is not worth the waste and the production concerns.

Thanks again,

Epiphone

My thoughts about the "Revolution" model:

First of all, it`s a great guitar! There is something about the tone of a Casino that really grabs me. This thing is almost as loud as an acoustic guitar - twice as loud as my Riviera!!! Once you plug it in, there`s that beautiful clean tone that rivals some of my Fenders. And when you crank it up, you not only get feedback but also a very nice bell like crunch tone ;-)

It`s also a very lightweight and balanced guitar. Comes with the standard Epi hardcase and a casino poster. No Lennon memorabilia included - but who cares!

The finish might be poly - but it`s PAPERTHIN. As a matter of fact - the body feels like something you just pulled out of the forest - and smells like a christmas tree. Even the headstock is matte.

Setup and workmanship - okay. Paintjob is somewhat sloppy, so is the neck binding and the nut. On the other hand, the electronics are impressive! USA pickups with clothwire, quality switch etc...

It`s not like a $2000+ guitar. But not bad either.

Most importantly - it stays in tune!

I have not found the time yet to upload pictures - will try tomorrow.

Eagerly awaiting pictures.....

BTW, let me ask - if you have it strapped on, and you let go, does the headstock fall to the floor?

That's the one thing I really dislike about my Peerless, the balance is just not there. I'm thinking the 5-ply body would balance it out more.

Thanks, for the information and clarification(s). I'm sure we all appreciate your input. I hope you'll continue

that, anytime you see us "going astray," with regards to Epi specs, construction, and/or anything else you

can shed some insight on, regarding our beloved "Epi's!"

Thanks again, Epi-1

Yes, it`s the regular 335 hardcase...but the size differs ever so slightly from the case for my Riviera. I think this new casino has body dimensions that are more true to the original ones.

It has a lock - should be good enough for the flight.

I just checked. It does. At least with my cheesy Fender strap. Not dramatically like an SG though.

I still think it`s a pretty balanced guitar.

Hello Max' date='

Schweeeet guitar!

Is the back of the neck always so dark??

Peter[/quote']

Hey Peter,

as far as I know - yes! The USA Lennon model has a very dark color as well - so did Lennons original guitar.

Lennon USA model

The quality of wood is higher than on regular Casinos IMHO.

Here's a back image of my JL REV.... It appears to have a lighter finish on the neck.... Also the strap button location is different. And the headstock on the JL REVS seem to be noticeably larger, but it could be just the image.

Nevertheless a wonderful looking guitar=d>

I like yours too! :-#

The guitar is not as dark as it looks in the pics. It`s ever so slighty brighter.

Anyway' date=' it would be [i']really[/i] interesting to compare both models...I like mine so much that I might even get the USA model once I can afford it...

I've played the standard MIC Casinos, and I must say that with only a few tweaks of the electronics, and a pro-set up you have a quality instrument that comes very close to the JL REVS.

When these IBJL Casinos hit the stores, I will definitely give them a try.

Congrats on your purchase=d>

The only upgrades I plan right now are a bone nut and the usual pro setup.

The electronics seem really good stock! Killer pickups' date=' and they finally added a reliable switch ;-)

I'm glad the electronics are a step up from the standard Casinos. Lord knows I couldn't imagine in having to do selector switch and potentiometer change on a Casino#-o .... Man that would be frustrating.

I plan to do a bone nut on my JL Rev as well when it comes time to do the next string change.... My LPC had a bone nut recently installed and what a difference it made in attack.

Errrmmm....please tell me that you're not thinking of checking that guitar in an Epiphone case in the hold of a commercial airliner? Those Epi 335 cases are nice cases (I have one) but they are still only a plywood and vinyl construction. They are not impact resistant ABS (as is the situation with a >>> Gator case for example). The Epi cases are great for taking a guitar to a gig...but as checked baggage? :P And a Casino ain't a Telecaster, you know...

I'd be tempted just to use FedEx myself...Or upgrade to a flight case...
