jrc127
Well, I took the plunge and ordered the wiring harness from Mojotone. I've taken the advice from some of you here to listen to the p,ups for a bit before replacing them. I bought the Dot about a month ago and so far remain impressed with the build quality and tone. I didn't know it at the time I bought it but my instructor has a 1994 Gibson Custom Shop ES-335 that he brought out at my first lesson where I showed up with the Dot. To my ear there is not a HUGE difference. The Gibson is a bit fuller and rounder, maybe I should say mellower-toned. The Epi stock pickups did really hold up well against the Gibson as I was told they might. As my instructor said, the Gibson is better but not $3000 better. So, needless to say, I'm still really impressed with the Dot. I can't say enough about it -except my wife thinks I've said plenty about it already..... Anyway, I can't help tinkering, even with an already great sounding gitbox. I don't expect the Mojotone wiring to dramatically change the tone, but if it gets a little closer to the Gibson I'll be well pleased for a really long time. I hope to do the install next weekend if I can.... Peace

Guest
Just had two harnesses and a set of pickups made for me. The 335 harness in the photograph cost me US$65 CTS pots, paper and oil caps, Switchcraft Jack and Switch, Braided wire. The guy also made a Jimmy Page wired harness with 4 pull/push using the same components for US$85 The Jimmy Page harness is going in my E-B-G Sheraton with those 4 wire low wind PAF clones....Will be here any day.....itching to get my hands on them...... TP
I just had a local guitar guru make and install a new harness in my 1996 Epi Casino. The 14 year old original Korean parts were not holding up well at all. The new harness was ready and installed in a day for a total of $110 which I thought was money well spent. The difference in tone and shaping ability with the upgrade CTS pots and Switchcraft switch and jack were amazing. I think you will like the difference a lot. peeper
damn I gotta get into this racket. I charge around that for a complete rewire and install (semis and hollowbodies are more). I could make a harness like that in about 10 minutes, thats $480 an hour! minus about $10 for cost of all the stuff that goes in a harness and I could quit my day job!.... Oh wait, did that years ago///
jrc127
The wiring kit was $90. Cheaper than a set of pickups (actually I think the GFS PAFs are about 70 a pair)
