winterland
Are they hard to get? Impressions? I assume you mean the 'tribute' version and not an actual made in 1959 model ... I was able to play one for 30 minutes or so and was very impressed. I really like the sound produced by the Burstbuckers (stock pups for this guitar) and the sustain goes on forever. Zork
Well the Tribute is a different model: http://www.epiphone.com/news.asp?NewsID=1632 This is the 1959 model: http://www.epiphone.com/news.asp?NewsID=1622 There was no Epiphone Les Paul in 1959. I don't think they are overpriced when you consider the construction, the pickups, the hardware and case that comes with it.

The one I played was definitely the "Tribute" model ...
Zork
It is confusing..the Tribute comes in 2 different neck shapes like Gibson LP Standards do now, just makes it more confusing! Thanks!
AlanH
1. Do you own or have tried Epiphone 1959 Les Paul? 2. Are they hard to get? 3. Impressions? 1. I tried both the Tribute and the 1959 the other week. 2. Both are readily available in the UK. 3. I was distinctly unimpressed. My review is here: http://forums.epiphone.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=14655 Instead I decided to buy my new LP Studio Deluxe and the quality, to me, is comparable to the Tribute and 1959 (bar the electronics). I'll maybe upgrade the pups to something of my choice at a later date.

Zork
Do these ship with pickguards? I know there are some models where they include them for later installs. Thanks.
lpplayer
Do these ship with pickguards? I know there are some models where they include them for later installs. Thanks. Mine wasnt shipped....I got it at my local dealer....but no pickguard included. A cord, Epiphone poster, Certificate of Authenticity, and one of those silica bags were the only things in the case, besides the guitar of course! I love my 59, mine is in Iced Tea.
