brianh
Don't know about Thomann specifically, but in here in the states, the answer is no, they are sold just the way they come from the factory, with the possible exception of Sweetwater.
peeper
Its really a moot point anyways. After traveling to your doorstep the variances in temp., humidity, and air pressure, along with the vibration of being on a truck will undo most any setup. Thats why national acts bring techs with them, the guitars need a tweaking almost constantly to keep up with the rigors of the road.
AlanH
Plus it could only really come properly set up if they asked you how you like your guitars set up prior to delivery in terms of action, neck relief, pickup height and even nut height. Anything else is simply an inspection of a guitar that will hopefully have been set up to factory specs. Alan
snookelputz
E.M.Shorts in Wichita asks how you like it set up, and sets up the guitar free with a new set of strings for every guitar sold. Also, cheaper than any other online store I ever found. http://www.wichitaband.com/guitar.html EDIT: Should also note that if they don't have the guitar you want, they'll go get one for you and still give you a good deal. TurnItUp
I agree with Musikron to a point. I have never purchased a guitar from an online store before, until now. I purchased an Ibanez JS1200CA from Rich at Ibanez Rules with a Platinum setup. When the guitar came, I opened it up and it was still in tune. Rich does amazing setups. I've been playing 40+ years and have had my share of high-end guitars. The Ibanez from Rich is one of the best I have ever played.
tulsaslim
Hi basically i want to know if guitars are set up when you buy them from online store's like thomann They are if you buy them from Sweetwater and paid more than $299. They even put on a set of strings of my choice when I bought my elitist dot a few years ago.
hoss49
E.M.Shorts set up my Tribute and polished the frets to. They told me got the neck to .003 with no buzz. Perfect.
7C
One thing for sure - if the store doesn't do the set up someone will have to. How they (Epiphones) are allowed to leave the factory so poorly adjusted amazes me. I know you get what you pay for but surely it's part of making a product 'roadworthy'. 7C
lab34
Hello, I think there's no rule. I purchased two guitars form thomann and none of them were adjusted. The reason is that the stratocaster was in its original sealed mexican box, and the cort earth was in its original sealed chinese box. None of the box had been opened by thomann. But I have a friend who purchased à Gibson LP from thomann , and the guitar arrived in its case and it was set up. Recently I bought a Casino at MusikProduktiv, and it was on another box (a Gretsch box !) and set up. But I change the strings so the intonation changed...
