risto
Hi everyone. I'm new guy on the forum and I have a one small question. In the near future I would like to buy Epiphone Les Paul Standard, which les pauls are the best? From the late eighties(Korea), nineties(Korea) or new one(China)? 93DMTX1281734249
I agree with you Peter except that "your" (or "my") perfect guitar with a poor setup might feel like...well, you know, sh!te. Probably not as much of an issue with a new guitar from a store...but in 40 or so years, I've never bought a new guitar. So, I think it is reasonable to discuss what guitars "have good bones". Then one needs to be able to look past minor fixable issues and focus on things neck stability, fret style and condition, what replacable parts are unsatisfactory...all that kind of stuff. I think its usefull to ask which factories/years/models are most highly regarded. Doug

mbrooks0711
As a new owner of an 2001 Korean Sheraton AND a 2007 Chinese one, I can honestly say that both play and sound almost identical. The real difference to me is that the older Korean model has much better attention to detail and finishing touches. The hardware seems to be better as well. But I still wouldn't trade my Chinese LP for anything.
7C
Both my Chinese LP Standard and Dot are flawless (Ebony finish). I think it's easy to get fixated on which factory, when manufactured etc - have a good look at what you are buying, if it looks, feels, sounds and plays right I don't think it matters to be honest. Just my opinion. 7C

eggs
I love my MIK Epis &' date=' to provide me a bit of focus, add some fun to the hunt & to ensure I don't blow every cent I earn on endless geets, are focusing my attention there. But, that said, I do have a lovely Chinese Lass that I'm currently preparing for her 'debut' on this Forum Ultimately, they are like our kids... We luv 'em 'cause of their differences! eggmuffins [/quote']

93DMTX1281734249
A little while back I picked up a used Casino off of CL - 2006 from Korea. The price was so low that I couldn't resist and my thought was to just turn around for a profit. The thing did not play well, the switch was flaky, and it just didn't seem to tune right or stay in tune once it was close. I had always wanted a Casino having been a fan of that group that made them famous but after playing this one I thought I was cured of that desire. Anyway, after a good deal of elbow grease, a $12 Allparts switch and some Vintage Gotoh tuners from EBay I don't think that I can now part with this thing. It plays so nice that I have to pick it up every time I see it. I guess my points are 1. I'm very happy with the basic quality of this Korean build. 2. If you find a good deal you might have to try to look past superficial/correctable issues. Cheers!
