cegbacca
http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii320/Cegbacca/2004.jpg I linked (I hope) a pic of my 1964 E230-TD Casino. I'm thinking of selling it and was just looking for some info so I can decide if I want to or not. I saw one go on Ebay recently for $6300. Mine looks similiar but it has a Bigsby trem. I'll likely get an actual appraisal from my local shop but any info or comments are appreciated. Thanks, Craig
pohatu771
$6300 is a bit high, even by Casino standards. Check GBase: http://www.gbase.com/stores/gear/gearlist.aspx?gs=y&keyword=casino Gary's Classic Guitars has a great selection, but their prices are a little higher than other shops. Anthony_JB
Did it SELL for 6,300 or did they want 6,300. Huge difference. Epiphone made 384 E230TDs that year. If it was in a good condition with light finish checking and everything original. I'd probably give you no more than 3,000 for it.
cegbacca
The item from Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/1964-Epiphone-Casino-E230-TD-Vintage-100-original-/390207004557?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Guitar&hash=item5ada265f8d#ht_1034wt_1137
Vic Flick
The item from Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/1964-Epiphone-Casino-E230-TD-Vintage-100-original-/390207004557?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Guitar&hash=item5ada265f8d#ht_1034wt_1137 The eBay Casino has the smaller more Gibson like headstock. Like McCartney's. Plus the wider fretboard. Harder to come by, that might account for the higher price. Still seems like a lot of $$$ to me. If I was buying, I would want to pay $3500 for one in very good condition. If I were selling, I'd want $4500. Blue book value is close to $4000. Of course, it worth nothing more than you can get for it. Get it appraised by an expert who specializes in vintage instruments. Good luck... cegbacca
Thx for the feedback all! Any thoughts on whether it's bigsby or not? Craig
Hungrycat
Thx for the feedback all! Any thoughts on whether it's bigsby or not? Craig Not a Bigsby, but Epiphone's own vibrola-tremolo-thingy.
gasdoc77
Hi, I'm new to the forum interesting that this is such a recent topic because I just agreed to purchase a 1964 casino from a coworker (June 18th Pauls birthday). She heard I liked guitars and said she has had one that just sits in her closet. She is basically telling me to name a price and I'm trying to find one that is fair. she has no idea as to its value. I just can't take advantage of the situation. anyhow, I had it appraised by a vintage guitar shop and they said the trade in value is 1800 and the retail range is 2750 to 3000. I find this strange considering the online prices close to 6000. the guitar is absolutely mint. NO checking, NO fret wear and all original. the case even looks new. I cant express how new this thing looks. McCartney specs with the short headstock and neck. Im curious if I sold it to them what the showroom price would be. any thoughts? joe

The value of a mid '60s Casino had been already been addressed, reread what I wrote. No one can tell what some store would sell it for, except maybe Kreskin. But Blue Book value is just under 4K ($3750 in 98% mint condition to be exact). That's not set in stone, but it's a good starting point. This store is low balling you. Or they don't know what they're talking about. Either way, walk away.
cegbacca
Thanks for all the input from my fellow guitar geeks! This is the guitar I play the least of my collection, which is why I thought of parting with it. I'm more of an acoustic guy. Thx again!
