Yes, bone is real bone. I doubt animals are killed specifically for bone, but they're probably killed for some other industry and the bone is recovered as a "by product" and sold.

Is this real bone from an animal or synthetic. Any information on this would be great, Thanks guys!

 

 

Don't forget...the rosette on the 185 is made of abalone...and the inlays on the neck and headstock are mother of pearl.

 

Don't lick the guitar and I think you'll be fine....

I've known a lot of vegans in my life but this takes it to a level that's new to me. Just pretend that the cow died a natural death in the desert and the bone naturally dried and was bleached by the sun. I know it may be a bit of denial but try it.

If it bothers you, go get a Tusq nut and saddle made. It's what Taylor uses on most of their guitars and I actually like it better on my Taylor than the bone saddles I have tried on it. Bone has always sounded better on my Gibson's though.
