Upgraded G400

Hello guys,

finally I upgraded my sg400 with 498T pickup in the bridge position and I want to tell you the results.

I find it very aggresive in high notes while soloing and also very hot in rhythm such as some classic sabbath power chords. I got it there for over a week now and I 'm not thinking of letting my sg down for a long long time.

In my opinion the best gibson pickup for an sg.

Petros - You have made a good choice regarding the pup.

There are many great pickups out there, but I, too, went

with 498T/490R pups for both my EPI LPs - quite satisfied.

(Guess I'd better get around to generating a SIG line again...).

First 2 things I immediately noticed were the increased sensitivity

to pick strokes/pick attack (make a boo-boo, it's gonna show), and the increased

Sustain of lead notes. Golly Jeepers, Batman - just like the Gibby

LPs I used to own!

I just got a used G-400 faded Vintage series last week and IMO, the stock pickups sound great, but I just ordered a new Epiphone bridge for it. The previous owner obviously didn't take care of it too well and the stock saddles tend to wobble a bit, thus making tuning a *****. I used to have a Standard G-400 over a year ago and never had that problem with it, so once I get the new bridge in and reintonate it, I hopefully should be all set.
