jonny_2_owls
Hi all, I just got myself a new guitar, as the title says it's a used 1965 Lennon Casino! In the past I've owned a few early 80's matsumoko casinos, a Korean model and a couple of Elitists (one great the other so so). The Lennon one is the nicest of them all! The nitro finished sunburst is very nice, and I'm sure it'll only get better over the years as I reckon this is a keeper. The nylon saddles give a very different tone to the regular casinos, much more muted and mellow. It is a very lively sounding guitar when played unplugged too. My other electric guitar is an '84 Matsumoko riviera which is fitted with a bigsby which I love. I've been thinking about putting a bigsby on the Lennon casino, this would not be fitting with the Lennon connection (more George) but I'm not too fussed about that. I feel it would make it a better guitar, as 2 of my previous casinos had bigsbys fitted and they always had improved tone. All in all a brilliant guitar, the build quality is top notch and the sound is fantastic! A definite keeper!

g6120
Ive got a Lennon 65 Casino as well great guitar and its a second but for the life of me I cant find a flaw anywhere on that guitar . Put a Bigsby on it better sustain Ive found and Ive also put different tuners on it as well the same that Gibson es 330 uses and no need for drilling they fit right in place of the others . The stock tuners were fine but wanted a more vintage look . This guitar stays in key even when bending the strings its always dead on and yet to have played a bad Casino they are all fine guitars once set up properly . Ive been asked a couple of times why mess with the Casino its a limited edition and I'm a player really not looking for the investment . I could have bought that Casino blindfolded it just felt good from the get go so thats what I ended up with .
jonny_2_owls
I agree 100% about this guitar! I love it. Mine too is stamped with an 'R' and I have no idea why. There is a mark in the grain that could look like a blemish and that's the only thing I can find that could make it a 2nd. I really do want to put a bigsby on it. I like Lennon and the beatles but I'm not that precious about the connection, I prefer George anyway and his casino had a bigsby!!
modern image
i traded for a 1965 limited jl casino, and have it in shop now. switching out bridge for a tonepro. putting tusq. nut in. why? sounds about 50% of what a eliltist casino sounded like. i was told it had been given a fret job as well. i'm considering doing that over. does anyone know what specs, or what profile the frets are on the lennon casino? sounded really muted, and mellow with the nylon whereas the elite really projected a brilliant tone, and harmonic.
