animalfarm
Found an old Musician's Friend Flyer, was looking at a DEAN "Bubinga Wood" Flying "V" (on sale $249) that was discontinued BEFORE I could even lay out $$$ for it!!!! I called within minutes of getting the flyer. Bummer. ANYWAY - On the front of the Flyer was a Pic and info about special sale on GIBBY NightHawk ($1200). Remembering the recent EPI1 thread about the Epi Version, had to post comparison pics. I LOVE the EPI Fretboard, not crazy about the selector switch. Body Design? Ehhhhhhh.... The Selector Switch and Tailpiece just don't look right to me. Prefer GIBBY Body, but Gibby fretboard is just...DOTS. (????) Oh, NO, NO, NO! GOTTA have Fretboard Inlays. THE PICS, you can compare side-by-side. Just passing on info after stumbling across Gibby Pic. GIBSON NIGHTHAWK: EPIPHONE NIGHTHAWK:
wardog
animal, if i remember correctly, the previous epi nighthawk had to incorporate mini toggles to get the different pup selections along with the 3 way toggle. I honestly prefer the current selector swtich to reduce the amount of addtional switches. now, i think a p90 in the neck vs a mini humbucker would be sweet. i like them both. epi is epi with its unique features and it is not a gibson. That is way I like epi's
The.Traffic.Lights
Like Pete.R said, I just see a Gibson LP BFG. Epi looks odd, but that's exactly what I like about it.
Hungrycat
The new Epi is much closer to the original than the Gibby '09 is.
midiman56
I gotta say, all things being equal and the money factor not even being taken into consideration, I'm simply diggin' the Epiphone way more than the Gibson! I will own that guitar! Jim
kevin134
Well the new Epi one seems more accurate then the '09 gibson as others have mentioned above. Here is a pic of a '93 gibson I found. Defintely thinking on saving the $$ fgor one when they come out
