Making your own pedal....

Larsson

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

i have been looking into making my own pedal and was wondering where i can get hold of a PCB. was looking to make a fairly simple one to start off with..

i have experience in working with PCBs but not where to find one, already made, to buy.

was looking at maybe doing a phase 90 or maybe a simple microamp kinda boost thing.

if anyone has made their own pedals please post your feedback, where did you find all the things you need (i know i can find all of the things i need, except the PCB at my local store), and how did you find making the pedal itself, what ones have you made?

any comments are appreciated, as well as a point in the correct direction!

Cheers,

Larsson

Both my pedal boards are DIY. Here are a few places I know of:

http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/

http://tonepad.com/projects.asp?projectType=fx

Both of these sites sell boards. I know you can get the entire kit from General Guitar Gadgets

if you wanted to go that route. I only did one kit and it was cause I was too lazy to etch the board and I have

to say that the quality of the parts and the shipping time was excelent.

If interested I also can give you links to DIY forums as well as online stores that specialize in components for building stompboxes.

A big plus one to that!

I want to get one but the only problem is I can't choose which one to get. They have so many sweet pedals. The 2 knob bender is lookin mighty fine to me... That or the fuzz face clone.

Other than fuzz their digital delay and reverb have me GASing.

+1. These sites are great and have a ton of PCB's available. I've made about 20 or so pedals, and have used boards from both with great results. Another is www.guitarpcb.com . I haven't bought from them, but they have many available that other sites don't have. Etching boards is pretty easy too, but can be a pain to drill. There's a tutorial at www.smallbearelec.com .
