Maestro Vibratoer
The purple gibson stickers on some Gibsons from 1970 - 1980's (mid)are blatantly being sold on Ebay to any taker. Am surprised that Gibson allows this. I have two 1970 ES-335's and am concerned about counterfeit guitars that might use these labels. Hopefully someone from Gibson is aware of what is going on! neilpanda
wait, how do you make a fake gibson with a purple sticker? AND nobody really works that hard when creating a counterfeit. They might be looking more realistic on the outside, but its really matters on the inside. if you wanna get a laugh at these fakes go here: http://fibsons.com/ Beastie
TommyK
Fake labels and headstock overlays have popped up on Ebay from time to time. No, Gibson does not allow it. PM Gibson customer service with a link and they will shut it down. There's even a guy out there selling, what he calls, new/old stock headstock overlays on his own website. He claims these are left overs from Kalamazoo. I can't say for certain, but I'd be skeptical.

TommyK
...He said he contacted Gibson and never heard back. ... What's that supposed to mean? Did he ask if it was okay to bootleg the Gibson logo?
ChanMan
I think it means "He's FoS". "Dear Gibson, I love your guitars. Many times while I was growing up I'd lie awake at night and just dream of owning a Les Paul or maybe a sweet SG and playing for millions of my adoring fans as they cheer me on mind if I bootleg your labels from out in the audience with the spotlights shining and the fog machines pumping out at full blast! Thanks so much for building such and excellent series of guitars, with a phenominally wide range of colors and options to choose from! Maestro Vibratoer
What's that supposed to mean? Did he ask if it was okay to bootleg the Gibson logo? Right, he was supposedly after some kind of license arrangement to "service existing repair shops". If only I were so creative
