NeoConMan Posted August 26, 2008 Share Posted August 26, 2008 just a tip> when you raise the action and the string hits the back of the bridge from the stop bar tail piece you should raise the tailpiece until it clears the back if the bridge > just enough to clear >fyi I disagree. I see people argue that all the time' date=' but I have a compelling reason to leave it the way Gibson ships 'em. I run the stopbar [b']all the way down[/b] on ALL my Gibsons to put less stress on the posts. When those stopbar posts start leaning toward the bridge, it's a little too late to make the adjustment then. The damage is done. You'll break strings where they bend over the back of the bridge? Never happened to me, not even once, in 15 years and just as many Gibsons. To each their own, but ask yourself this; Do you want to replace a broken string or have the top of your guitar drilled out, doweled, redrilled and repainted? Just a thought....
