Bigchief365
Hi, I am trying to date a Les Paul Standard from what I am being told is a 59 reissue but the serial # doesn't maintain the numbering convention. I do not have the certifictae and case candy. Please and thank for your help. The serial # is 901292. Thanks
L5Larry
The six-digit serial number system was discontinued in early 1975, is the guitar in question that old? I have found documentation that a '58 Reissue was made from 1971-1975, although I've never actually seen one and have no idea what made it a '58 versus the standard "Standard" of the same era. Tried it but didn't like it. She was too fickle...

LarryUK
I tried to date a guitar once. But she was highly strung! I think she had anoter bloke anyway. I heard he was called Jack. I didn't fret over it though.
Witmer
Good to see I'm not the only completely unhelpful person who opened this thread for the sole purpose of making a "dating" joke... Can't top any of you stinkers, either. Just sayin'.
NeoConMan
I am trying to date a Les Paul Standard from what I am being told is a 59 reissue The serial # is 901292. Contact Gibson Customer Service at 800 444-2766. Tell 'em what you got, they can usually help you out. If you're not in the USA somebody here might do it for you, but they will need an idea on the age. Good luck!
