milod
Problem with the foggy bottom boys and "man of constant sorrow" is that the song was way old before it was used in the movie - and I thought we were looking for "for the movie" music... So that even takes away such as the theme used for "2001, space odyssey." Me, I figure there's been an awful lot of good "program music" around. I really liked the music behind "Last of the Mohicans" with DD Lewis and Russell Means in it. The soundtrack for the original "magnificent 7" has worked rather well over the years. And a true classic: "Laura," written for the film of the same name.
surfpup
One of my favorite soundtracks was certainly Bill Murray's Broken Flowers. It featured some killer tracks from Ethopian Mulatu Astatke http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDC7oMOnmCc And this gem... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IONLRiJCX5M&playnext=1&list=PLA4EADD61C8EE83FB
TommyK
Can't say just one Deliverance: "Dueling Banjos" Man of Constance Sorrow Star Wars Theme really got my heart to pumping in the opening credits on all 6 installments.

BT Bob
Mine is Streets Of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen, from the movie Philadelphia. Another vote from me for this one (but then I'm a big Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuce fan). Also, got to agree with Mr Barry & the James Bond music. And finally, Henry Mancini's amazing Pink Panther theme. Riverside
Maybe not the best one ever, but it seems to work well in a forum environment: Dirty books, Balzac. He left the liberry to River CIty, but he left the all the books to her... Good night, ladies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbhnRuJBHLs
