McCartney and his Texan

OK, I'll play.

From the same "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard" special as the "Heartbreak Hotel" performance was taken, here's Paul playing his Texan on the beautiful Jenny Wren. Written as a kind of stylistic companion to Blackbird, it's also a lyrical companion to that song and Eleanor Rigby.

Oh, and how about that Texan?

Wonder why Paul never switched out the pickguard to a lefty?

In the days of 64/65 there might not have been that much time for a young world-conqueror to change pick-guard. He just turned the guitar up side down and recorded all my troubles seemed so far away in second take. Same thing with the Martin D-28 a few years later : Opposite bracing ? Who cares ? I've got songs to do !

Since the 90ties, the D-28 used on stage is an authorized lefty, but the Texan is the very same, , , and of course have become a trademark. An icon of the era.

I see your point Em7.

Thank goodness for YouTube - - I checked and it had that whole C&C at Abbey Road special (in 7 parts) - http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=chaos+and+creation+at+abbey+road&aq=0

So I watched the whole special. Never had seen it. Loved him pulling out his old equipment. Really enjoyed it.

So to whoever started this Macca flood - Wiley, Tommy, Red -

Thanks again guys. [thumbup]
