why no Epiphone archtop acoustics?

yes, why no epiphone archtop acoustics? It seems like a real gap in the Epi line.

I brought that point up with Epi1 (Epiphone president Jim Rosenberg)on the Gibson CEO forum a while back. I'd love to see a Masterbilt archtop. Also an all-mahogany slope shoulder with a big fat neck (like one of those rare, all hog war-time J-45's), if you're reading this, Mr. R.

By the way, Jim, love the idea of the 50th Anniversary Casino, but I'm waiting for the McCartney spec! WHEN, WHEN, WHEN? Those ES-355's look good, too! I will give them careful consideration when they reach these shores...

On would think you could take emperor tooling and make a non-electrified arch-top.

Yes. In the past there were both electric and acoustic Emperors. I believe the biggest difference was the lack of pickup...maybe some other minor differences.

I just received MF's June catalog in the mail yesterday, plus GC's and a local music shop's ad. It was a very good mail day.

I saw the 5th avenue in MF's at under $700. It looked real sweet. I may have to check one out some place around here, if I

can find one.

Can any one share their thoughts on how they sound?

I just got the latest Guitar Player Gear issue and the Gretsch archtop pictured above has a MSRP of $2,125-not cheap.I'm quite content with my Harmony Archtone that cost $39.99 in 1966 you can get them on Ebay for as low as $300 these days and they sound great.
