Hey Dougg,

how can you see this.. the serial number or something else?

Thanks!

100% fake in my book:

1) serial number --not a Gibson format

2) headstock logo

3) body shape (horns)

4) position of controls

5) F-hole shape and position

6) headstock shape

What have I missed?

What does it claim to be?

ok, thanks a lot guys, this helps me very much.. [thumbup]

It's an auction and at the moment it's about 300$, now i know why it so cheap.. [blush] the auction text is written like the seller doesn't know anything about guitars so i thought this could be a bargain.

Thanks again, i will look further for another one..

Ah, yes, the eternal search for the free lunch. At this price point, you might look for an Epi Casino or Dot. Reasonable value for the money, and priced low enough that there probably aren't that many cheaper knock-offs that are Epiphone-branded.

Then again, I could be wrong...

Damn ... not even a "good" fake. I saw LP and 335 copies in Shanghai a few years back that were damned good, almost cosmetically flawless, for under $150, which even included a ripped-off hardshell "Gibson Custom Shop" case. The sellers (at a flea market) even had a tube amp you could plug into and test the things - that's where the comparison ended, for me. Did not sound even remotely like Gibsons. This fake is terrible, not worth the price of firewood.

+1. On a good note, I wish all fakes looked this bad. Makes it easy to distinguish the crap.

This is my first post. Just picked up a 1960 LP Special SC VOS as my 2nd Gibby. Thought it was time to join [biggrin]
